Hey, guys! Phoenix here to give you some major life updates. So, as you know, last summer I went back to school, but this time, I’m at an actual college—well, it’s a community college—getting my Associates of Arts degree in Computer Animation. And, it was during the COVID-19 pandemic that I had actually suffered from severe depression that made me mentally break and completely give up on making art. It’s like I didn’t want to do it anymore. Luckily, that depression lightened up a lot by the time I started the Fall semester, as I had the confidence to make art again. Now, into the Spring semester, I am just about to finish up at Miami Dade College (which is where I am going at the moment), before graduating and transferring to Florida International University to get my BFA in Digital Arts (Animation track). Soon after those years are over with, I can finally get a stable job that I am happy with, which is working as an animator. Naturally, I am more of a character designer, but it doesn’t hurt to even animate as well.
Another update I want to make is about the new endeavors beyond DeviantArt. Lately, I have been using Instagram and Twitter to gain ground in the social networking world. I also created a Facebook page solely for art, a TikTok account to post time lapses for my drawings that I make on Procreate (on which I am using more often than SAI).
My final point before ending this journal entry is changes made to my art schedule. After repeatedly having an Instagram follower pester me about a request for me to draw her Danny Phantom OCs, who are actually a Mary Sue and a Gary Stu, I stopped doing free art, meaning that I don’t do requests anymore, so instead I have started cash-based commissions, so if someone wants art from me, they must pay for it or else I won’t do it. Also, art trades are now for friends only.
In conclusion, I have changed... a lot. I have been through hard times, and not to mention, I learned that I am not really an extrovert: I am actually an introvert of the INFJ-T personality type. So, that’s what I have been up to lately as far as life is concerned. Thank you for your endless support. I have to go, so until then, you keep me in your prayers as I still struggle through these hard times.
